Rich & Good Swiss Roll

It's interesting how people come up with unique names for their shops. And so to call their shop Rich and Good Cake Shop shows how gutsy the owner was to claim that the cakes sold here are rich in flavour and good.

I have once observed for myself how long the queue can get especially during the peak lunch hour. And some of my colleagues have been raving about this shop.

And since I was in the area, after searching high and low for a costume to wear for my staff dinner, I decided to make a trip down to the shop to get myself one of their Swiss rolls.

When I got there, the queue was manageable. But because it was a warm day and I was trying my hardest to control my bladder, the queue felt like TORTURE to me. I decided to make light the situation and started talking to one of the patrons in front of me just to kill time and chase that thought of going to a toilet.

Not long after, the shop assistant came out to take some orders, which I'm guessing so that they would know how much of the specific flavours to prepare. Durian seemed to be a hot flavour with the crowd and apparently one of their best flavour.

Oh the shop looked like the cake shop from the past. Definitely the common concept for most of the shop around this street.

As you may recall, I was having some biological obstacles, so I could not wait 20 minutes for the durian flavour to be ready. So I took what was readily available, kaya. Kaya is also one of their best flavour.

The kaya filling was spread evenly and was relatively generous. The cake was soft and fluffy and paired with the kaya filling, was an overall moist texture.

Would I consider queuing for another flavour in future? Maybe.

If you have time and love sweet treats, then why not beat the heat or rain and join in the queue.
