When I saw this interesting cream puff with a small piece of Macaron on top of it, I told myself that I must try it. And so I did!
Each Macaron-Choux was going for $3 a piece and because I wanted it in a box, I bought 4 pieces, vanilla bean, dark chocolate, lemon and hazelnut praline.
Each Choux pastry, besides have a small piece of Macaron stuck on top, is filled with flavoured cream.
Lately, my palate is leaning towards all things tart, so I personally felt that the lemon flavoured one was the best. Vanilla bean is not too bad, the cream was smooth with just the right amount of vanilla. Hazelnut praline was not too bad too, like the vanilla bean, the cream had a smooth and thick consistency.
It was a good effort to try to merge Choux pastry with Macaron, and at the same time, a novel idea. However, I was afraid that the Macaron would break into crumbled on the first bite or too hard to be bitten. But I was wrong. And interestingly, the pair worked well together.
Be prepared to wait for about 5 - 10 minutes as the staff prepare the pastry on the spot.
